Core muscles are a group of muscles located in your midsection that support your spine and help with stability and movement. A strong core can improve your posture, balance, and overall fitness. Here are some core workout exercises that you can do in the gym:
Planks: Get into a push-up position and hold your body in a straight line from your head to your feet. Keep your core engaged and your hips level. Hold for 30 seconds to one minute.
Russian twists: Sit on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Lean back slightly and lift your feet off the floor. Hold a weight or medicine ball in front of you and twist your torso to one side, then the other. Do 10-15 reps on each side.
Cable rotations: Stand facing a cable machine with the handle at chest height. Grab the handle with both hands and rotate your torso away from the machine, keeping your core tight. Do 10-15 reps on each side.
Bicycle crunches: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your hands behind your head. Lift your shoulder blades off the ground and bring your left elbow to your right knee as you extend your left leg. Repeat on the other side. Do 10-15 reps on each side.
Swiss ball crunches: Lie on a Swiss ball with your lower back supported and your feet flat on the floor. Cross your arms over your chest and crunch up, keeping your core tight. Do 10-15 reps.
